Alternative Energy

One Good Hand Deserves Another

Well, I’m back, my fellow liberators. Took a tumble on the ‘ol war horse disguised as a dirt bike (via pavement – not a good combination ‘ti ‘tall) which left the right hand immobile in a constricted brace for several weeks, but I’m back up to typing speed now.

Returned from the 8th Annual Alternative Energy Roundup in Fredericksburg, Texas, this past weekend. Very cool things happening upon the cosmic prairie. If you didn’t make it this time around, make plans for next year. Excellent to see, hear, and feel. Everything from biodiesel and straight vegetable oil systems to electrical cars to solar and wind energy to strawbale and concrete construction to organic farming/gardening to just gool ol’ people using their own noggins to solve our problems.

Visited all the booths, talked with several companies/individuals about their experiments and successes in alternative energy. Can’t explain how elated I was after witnessing all of this in one place. Listened to keynote speakers on sustainable living, strawbale construction, rainwater harvesting, biodiesel, and SVO systems. It was inspirational to say the least.

Let’s not wait around for vile government officials or sinister corporations to come to our rescue. That’s just not going to happen. It’s up to us. You and I. We gots to take care of our selves, our families, our friends, and our neighbors. And the way we do that is by opening up our eyes so our minds will follow.

THOUGHT FOR THE WHILE: “If you reap what you sow, then you are what you grow.”

SOLAR POWER FOR THE HOME’S SOUL  Wanta help save the environment? Want to free yourself from the rising costs of energy from monopolistic corporations? Well, what are you waiting for?

Here’s your chance, my fellow liberators. Time to put your soul where your mouth is. No more bullshit conversations of, “Well, I would help, but I just don’t don’t how.” Come on. Here is a company that has made solar power for your home not only easy and affordable, but they make it so dad-gum obviously necessary that we are absolute idiots if we do not take advantage of their services immediately.

Please visit Citizenre’s website and take a look at their proposal to give you a 25-year fixed price for your home’s energy using an environmentally-friendly solar energy system for your home. It will not only save you thousands of dollars, but it’ll help save the planet. If you move or sale your house? No problem. Just transfer the services to your new home or pass it on to whomever buys your house.

Do it! It’s simple. It’s clean. And it is much needed. This is your chance to do something for the planet who gave birth to you.

BACK TO THE FUTURE: ELECTRICAL CARS…AND TRACTORS

Cool things happening in the hemp industry. Even after The Terdinator terminated the industrial hemp vote in California, North Dakota passed the law on the local level for its farmers to farm hemp commercially and legally in 2007. The problem? Oh, the government has figured out a way to make money off the deal by shafting farmers with a $3,440 fee to the DEA (Devil’s Evil Agency) so as to compensate them for the added trouble of weeding (yes, pun intended) through the THC levels. You can go to our friends at www.votehemp.com or read this article to find out how to donate or help these farmers re-introduce hemp to America once again. Buy hemp, America! And lots of it.

One thing we have plenty of in West Texas, and that is wind. A wind farm used to be sort of a joke when farmers would talk about what to raise. “If we could just bottle up this here wind, we’d make a fortune.” We’re trying to do just that.

Wind farms around towns like Big Spring and Sweetwater are creating clean energy for cities and rural areas. My hometown, little ol’ Ackerly is even jumpin on the clean energy wagon. Makes me downright proud.

My friends, we’ve been pollutin’ this ol’ planet for way too long. Don’t agree? Then I guess you have no children or grandchildren. They are the ones who are going to pay for all of our excessive and ridiculously grotesque consequences of our decades of apathy and denial. Why depend on electric companies to produce energy for us, particularly in West Texas? Why complain about propane, natural gas, and other non-renewable energy? The wind is clean, as natural as it gets. Energy is abundant. Wind energy is plain common sense.

Check out http://www.windenergy.com and many other sites. Do a google search on wind energy, turbines, clean energy, and you’ll be amazed how many possibilities exist for us today.

  2. My new employer, Vail Resorts, is the second largest purchaser of wind power out of all American corporations. As of this past week, they run almost all of thier operations on wind power. They sent out a company email to let us all know. There is hope for corporate america!!
